The Spark & Foundation (Spring 2021)
- March 30, 2021: Following prayerful reflection, Rev. Dr. Genetta Y. Hatcher met with a small exploratory group to discuss planting a new church. The response was a unanimous, enthusiastic commitment.
- April 15, 2021: Pastor Genetta shared her vision via Zoom with 14 select supporters. They officially united as the founding members of The Room Church, offering immediate financial and planning support.
- May 25, 2021: The church was officially incorporated within the State of Michigan.
The Vision Behind the Name
While originally intended to be named Rehoboth (meaning "room" or "spacious place"), Pastor Genetta received a distinct vision during prayer. She saw herself against the backdrop of an empty church and heard the words: "The Room Church: There is room for you here." This vision is anchored in Genesis 26:22:
"Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land."
The Launch & Legacy
- September 12, 2021: Following months of communion, Bible study, and fellowship, The Room Church celebrated its official launch with over 350 family members and friends.
- In Remembrance: The church honors the memory of early visionaries who passed away before witnessing the launch, including Mother Barbara Branch, Mother Willie Mae Turner, and Brother George Jones.
